Ultimately, she becomes the focus of attention in a murder investigation by one of Saint Paul’s first female police officers. Mary Desjarlais's first novel published was Dorie LaValle in 2011 and re-released through Calumet Editions in the end of 2017. Her second novel, The Cutter's Widow, was also published through Calumet Editions and released in August.
