Complete with a half-burnt bike, cotton long sleeve, belt, and beard, Bob Babbitt showed up to toe the line at the third ever Ironman triathlon in 1980. Despite fueling his 140.6 adventure with Hawaiian sweet bread, rootbeer snowcones and a Big Mac Bob crossed the white chalk finish line with an understanding that his life had changed forever.

Through the years, Bob has found great purpose and profession through his dedication to growing the sport of triathlon. He is the co-founder of Competitor magazine, Competitor Radio, the Muddy Buddy Ride and Run Series and the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) which was founded on the mission to provide opportunities and support to people with physical challenges, so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics.

Bob is the greatest Ironman historian the sport has known and he continues to keep himself on the cutting edge through his media empire, Babbitville. Bob is one of the best storytellers of all time and in this episode, he gifts us the first-hand goods on the history of Ironman, the back stories on his many business ventures and the playful side of Ironman legends like Scott Tinley and Mark Allen.

Bob is an out of the box thinker who always keeps the greater good in his mind's eye. His service oriented, a natural born connector and we are all more successful in our sport because of this man. We are in deep thanks for all he does to keep the sport of triathlon growing and accessible for all.
