Rep. Carolyn Maloney lost a highly competitive primary in the 12th Congressional District to her colleague and friend Rep. Jerry Nadler, ending a thirty year run on Capitol Hill. But she’s not dwelling on that. Maloney sat down with Errol Louis to discuss her storied multiple decade career, which includes a series of firsts for women in politics starting in her time at the City Council.

She also talked about how she helped create the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act and the Credit Cardholders’ Bill of Rights, which protects consumers from high fees and unfair practices.

And as chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, she discussed her priorities for her last couple of months in office, such as leading an investigation into former President Donald Trump’s financial records.
