One of my favorite podcasts, I look forward to each weeks new episode. The content is well researched and presented in Moxie's amazing voice, take my word and give it a listen just on that merit alone. Also she introduces you to other podcasters thru guest presenter spots, I have found several new shows to listen to courtesy of YBOF. Check it out, you will be surprised how much you learn.
Easily my favorite podcast. It’s smart, it’s calming and I guarantee you will learn something. Moxie’s style and delivery are second to none. I couldn’t make a higher recommendation, if you have a pulse, you’ll love it
Love this podcast! I drive a lot and Moxie keeps me entertained with her facts and wit.
Best source for entertaining nuggets of knowledge from the most amazing and witty voice in podcasting (Moxy).
Your Brain on FactsThanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the show.
The first time I heard “Your Brain on Facts,” which was several months ago, I thought, “Too many superlatives. She’s writing her own reviews.”I was wrong. I apologize. Moxie, please forgive me. Let me know if sackcloth and ashes are necessary. All the reviews are justified and completely legit.I love the eclectic choices of topics, the segues, the “What the heck?” moments, but I especially love the parenthetical comments (“I would ask what the hell is wrong with David Lee Roth, but you didn’t sign on for a three-hour show”) and pop culture references (“like having DeeDee running Dexter’s Lab”).Start listening to this podcast. You will find nuggets in every episode to enjoy, and occasionally an episode will be all about that thing that you are all about. And that’s where I run out of superlatives, at least for today.
Your Brain on FactsThank you so much. I can't wait to read this on the show!
I was racking my brain trying to think of a comment that could express how amazing Moxie's podcast truly is. I got bupkis. :-) (Can you read an Emoticon on the air?)Everything was already said about her amazing voice, great sense of humor and interesting and often surprising facts.I love this podcast. Easily five stars. Will leave you with one correction though (from "The Wire"): ~"You evacuate a building. You don't evacuate people. To evacuate a person, is to give that person an enema." Big fan, have as nice a day as you have given me.Yonatan
Are you looking for a podcast that is amusing, stimulating, respectful and enjoyable? Do you want a host with a voice of silk and a subtle yet wicked sense of humour? Do you want to feel appreciated by the host as much as you appreciate her and all of her work? Do you want to listen to a podcast with your sweetheart and hear them say, "Are you supporting Moxie on Patreon yet?" (True!)YBOF is a perfect podcast - even the oldest episodes with minor sound quality issues. For the price of an overrated burned coffee product a month, Snickerdoodle asks you to give it to Moxie and YBOF instead. Keep this mellifluous treasure going for now and forever.
Your Brain on FactsWhen I read you review, I just had to sit there for a minute, completely blown away! :)
Moxie has a clear and enthusiastic voice that sucks you into super interesting stories that she tells with panache. You will not regret giving her pod a listen.
Your Brain on Facts - No spoilers!Trivia nerds rejoice! This show is an educational podcast about facts and the stories behind them. Host, Moxie LaBouche, covers a wide range of well-researched topics with perfect delivery that hooks you in every time. Subjects covered in the past have included music, history, parties and so much more. The writing and production are phenomenal. It’s structured, and informational with no small talk. Despite this, there is a fair bit of comedy in how the stories are told. While the people have credited the show with getting them into podcasts, LaBouche is also known for her amazing radio voice and does voice-over work as well. At first, I found her perfect radio voice a little too calming for work but the facts are too interesting to make it a sleep podcast. Even the commercials are entertaining and on a more important note, at a leveled volume. She also has a book out similar to the podcast worth checking out. Apple Podcasts has 4.7 out of 5 stars and 127 ratings. So far the show has 206 episodes all about half an hour long with new ones coming out weekly on Fridays. Some of my favorite episodes so far have been “We Can't Have Nice Things: Art & Antiquities Edition '' and “Project Pigeon and Acoustic Kitty” (trigger for violence against animals). Owltail’s most popular according to listens are “Meeting New Peoples'' and “hiStory.” Music is brief as are commercials. The pod also has a great website with all of the episodes, scripts, and sources. As a long-time listener, I highly recommend the show. Facts truly don’t get much better than this. 10+ stars! This is the Podcast that started it all for me. I even sought this site out solely for the purpose of expressing my genuine, undying and unabating (<--- ‽huh) way too serious love for this Podcast. Total transparency here, this is the only podcast I stream. The only others I even HEARD are the usual suspects that come in on the FM radio channel (I'll omit the 3 letter name 😉) THIS IS MOXIES REVIEW!&& I LOVE YOUR (her) MIND! Moxie has made me feel I am allowed to be myself, not to have to 'dumb down' or whatever(I swear I'm not this pretentious, swear). Funny and smart can go hand in hand, and they do-quite beautifully . On this show.Listen or prepare to die! Yay
A great podcast that will possibly help you on your next tricia night.
Please, do yourself a HUGE favor, and listen to this podcast. This is the first podcast I've ever followed, and to say that I'm addicted, is an understatement! The topics are well-researched and just downright entertaining. And you can't beat the smooth dulcet tones of Moxie LaBouche. Moxie covers every topic from gallstone and kidney stones to the colors of food, Jewish people who authored popular Christmas songs, and, things that 80 kids were taught to fear. YBOF is without a doubt, the BEST podcast around!
I have been listening for two days and I felt the need to share. I love Moxie's vibrant personality and how she presents the facts in a fun and uplifting way, even when the topic is super heavy. I had a small freak out over episode 188 (Tax & Taxonomy) while going over the tomato bit because I had Googled tomatoes independent of the podcast like three days after the episode aired, so I took the synchronicity at face value and will be listening to Moxie until she stops making episodes.
This podcast is chock-full of fascinating trivia like the best parts of rocky road ice cream! Moxie's voice is smooth and expressive, and she always sounds like she's having as much fun sharing the information as I have when listening. Even when she covers a topic I'm pretty familiar with, she always manages to surprise me.
After my first listen I became an instant fan. Moxie has been on our podcast (two episodes, called Nooks and Crannies) and gotta say, she became an instant recurring guest! Love hearing all the facts and am about to order her book!!
Moxie covers an array of interesting topics with a touch of humor masterfully. She keeps me interested and always wanting more. I have listened to every episode.
This podcast is guaranteed to interest you. Such a wide variety of topics delivered in a voice that is like melted butter. Moxie's pop culture references make even what could be mundane more fun. After listening once you will definitely find yourself wanting more. I always add episodes of this podcast to my queue. The best boredom breaker out there.
Moxie is such an amazing host who beautifully explains all kinds of facts you had know idea that you needed to know. This podcast is well produced with great content. This is the only podcast I support on Patreon.
Been listening to this podcast for about a month now and have really enjoyed it. I like that the facts follow a bit of stream of consciousness in how they're presented so it never feels like a slog through a topic that might not always strike my fancy. Moxie's voice, of course I have to mention her voice, is mellifluous. Normally I get bored with shows with a single host but she mixes it up with other voices to read quotes or uses audio effects on her own voice to break up that monotony. I appreciate that the facts are well researched and don't come off as a BuzzFeed or Mental Floss "10 things you'll never believe..." type faux research. The facts are weird and wonderful!
What may seem like completely irrelevant facts have actually immensely enhanced my conversations. Somehow I end up using facts from the podcast in my conversations weekly! This is the very first podcast I ever listened to, and is pretty much my go-to! I have only ever strayed to listen to guest podcast channels. (Which are pretty good too) but Moxie is the best! She has the best way of adding humor and not to mention her smooth segways! Love love love it!
