We begin our extensive coverage of the SXSW Film Festival with guest host Snehal Patel, Zeiss Cine Sales Manager, Americas, interviewing Ava Berkofsky, Cinematographer.

Ava Berkofsky was born in Wales, raised in the mountains and cities of California, and is now a Los Angeles and NYC-based Director of Photography. Her background in fine art and documentary photography informs her textured approach to cinematography, capturing the nuance of place, time, and subjectivity.

Ava is also the lead DP of HBO’s INSECURE, where she worked with Director/EP Melina Matsoukas to create and execute the look and feel of the show. She holds an MFA from the American Film Institute.
