This is a particularly good episode. The part about wanting to do it myself to demo to my teams that I'm side-by-side with them, doing the work, really resonated and is such a strong instinct for me. This episode is a good reminder that that instinct isn't serving them, myself, or the longterm goals. This one is a really rich insight shared in an admirably succinct style.
Ronson is a modern day Tocqueville. He sees us Americans better than we do ourselves. The history is interesting and neatly tied to the cultural topics of each episode. And, Ronson treats all of his interviewees respectfully, delivering balanced, thoughtful insight into what are divisive, complicated topics.
Amazing intro to Jonathan Haidt and his work. He's such a sound, logical voice among the chaotic, emotional rants that fill the news and opinions about current American society. And, he does a wonderful job of eliciting clarifications from Scott Galloway, who also is a legitimate voice to be considered but can be mistakenly dismissed as a result of his unique combo of arrogance and self-awareness. Great content for parents and those interested in digging in deeper into capitalism.
