RATING
I love Warrant, and I had a blast listening to this Warrant discussion. For their debut album, Dirty, Rotten, Filthy, Stinking Rich, I would have to choose "Down Boys", "So Damn Pretty", and the title track as my favorites. Worst for me would be "In the Sticks" and "Riding High". I was a freshman in college when Cherry Pie was released, and my first time ever seeing Warrant in concert was when they opened up for Poison on the Flesh & Blood tour. Actually saw them twice on that tour. For me, this is a really strong album from top to bottom. Favorites are "Uncle Tom's Cabin" (really showcases Jani's songwriting ability. In my opinion, one of the top 3 "story songs" of the hair metal era), "Mr. Rainmaker", "Song and Dance Man", and "You're the Only Hell Your Mama Ever Raised". Weakest would be "I Saw Red" (great ballad, but I prefer "Blind Faith"). Dog Eat Dog - a turn to much more serious songwriting for Jani and the band, but a monster of an album!! Favorites would include "Machine Gun", "Hole in my Wall", "Bonfire", "Bitter Pill" and, like AAron said, Warrant thrash, "Inside Out". Hard to pick weak tracks, but I would have to choose "Andy Warhol Was Right". I actually saw Warrant a couple years after the release of this album, in a small club in Salt Lake City, in 1994. I actually helped catch Jani Lane when he stage dove into the crowd!!! Ultraphobic was kind of a mix between Dog Eat Dog, and Warrants version of grunge. The only songs I have on my iPod from this album are "Undertow", "Family Picnic", "Ride #2" and "Stronger Now". I completely agree with Chris & AAron - I would love to see someone like Miranda Lambert, with her marriage then break-up from Blake Shelton, take the song "Stronger Now", make it her own, and make it a huge hit!!! I have one word for "Belly to Belly" - Meh!!! The only song from this album on my iPod is "A.Y.M. Angry Young Man". I don't like my Warrant sounding like a mixture of college rock + grunge + coffee house rock. No Thank you.As always, Chris & AAron put out a great "Best & Worst" episode, and I look forward to many more in the future!!! When I get to listen to the Decibel Geek podcast talk about my favorite bands, it "Sure Feels Good To Me!"Starski
