Interview with Alice Vaughn

1) What is your podcast about?

We review the holes and the plotholes of porn in Two Girls One Mic: The Porncast.

2) Who should listen to your podcast?

Anyone who watches porn [aka. everyone].

3) How long have you been podcasting and why did you get into podcasting?

Two weeks! This is our first go at podcasting. Yvette and I have wanted to create a podcast on our own for a while but weren’t ever able to figure out a compelling enough topic that would make us stand out. It’s when we realized that reviewing porn was our niche, that everything else fell into place. Everyone’s a critic, we just do porn.

4) What non-podcasting hobbies do you have?

When we’re not podcasting: Yvette is also known as SciBabe. She’s a professional debunker of pseudocience through a combination of accessibly written, accurate science (with a side of dirty jokes). She also makes amazing peanut butter cups. I (Alice), sell Offensive Crayons, a line of adult crayons that have been banned from Amazon for “insulting children and Caucasians”, and recently launched a line of planet themed bath bombs called Galaxy Bombs. I’m an adult who makes crayons and needs an excuse to frequently say Uranus.

5) Tell us about your setup!

Yvette is in California, and I’m in NYC. We use Zencaster for all of our recording needs, and two USB microphones for our recording. Then we clean everything up in Audacity, so it’s nothing crazy. You don’t need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on equipment to launch a great podcast.

6) What is one show (other than your own) that you think everyone should listen to?

Skeptics Guide to the Universe. We might be biased since we’re friends with the creators, but it’s an amazingly well done weekly podcast on what’s going on in the world with science, skepticism, and debunking pseudoscience.

7) Anything else you’d like to share?

We strive to be the podcast you can listen to with your grandma.
