Hiring: Data Engineer/Data Analyst
Podchaser is looking for a Data Engineer/Data Analyst to drive the future growth of our podcasting insights tool Podchaser Pro as well as provide insights into our huge dataset of podcast metadata for both internal use and public communication. You will be working directly for the CTO and will have the opportunity to use your expertise to improve and grow the product.
Your role will be to process large amounts of data, work on the development and maintenance of data workflow/ETL pipelines, perform statistical analysis and modeling, and conduct data related QA. You will be creating and maintaining production-quality in-house tools within a large shared code base.
The ideal candidate has a high level of attention to detail, can work independently, is comfortable asking questions, enjoys working with talented colleagues, and has an interest in analytics and data visualization.
This is a 100% remote position, our developers can live and work anywhere in the world, though there will be a requirement of at least some overlapping work hours with Melbourne, Australia (GMT+10).

Responsibilities
- Create and manage data pipelines (and flows) from a diverse set of data sources
- Develop, construct, test, maintain and optimize the data architecture and warehouse based on business requirements
- Have full ownership of data quality, reliability, and efficiency
- Be an active follower of and advocate for the latest technologies and how they address business questions to positively impact operations. Run respective proof of concepts and familiarize stakeholders with these technologies and data products.
Skills & Requirements
- At least three years of professional software development work experience
- At least two years of PHP experience
- Experience with Elasticsearch and related tools
- Expert relational database and data manipulation skills
- Must have experience with development on large OOP software projects
- Must understand API design principles
- Experience with Linux servers, including Linux command line and SSH
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Solid understanding of statistical analysis and mathematics
- Must write clean, production quality, well documented, maintainable code
- Must work well independently, including the ability to take initiative to avoid being blocked when working asynchronously
