4 Methods for PR to Repurpose Podcast Content

We’ve talked a lot about the power of podcast guesting for PR pros looking to promote their clients. Podcast guesting is free promotion to some of the most engaged audiences available, in any niche.

However, the potential of podcast content lies not only in its original format but also in its ability to be repurposed across multiple channels. In this article, we explore how PR professionals can leverage the power of content repurposing to maximize the impact of their client’s guest appearances.

4 Ways for PR to Repurpose Podcast Content

1) Audiograms

Even if you don’t know it by name, you’ve probably seen audiograms on various social media apps. In the simplest terms, audiograms are visual representations of audio clips from podcasts. They commonly include waveforms animating alongside the audio, pictures from the episode, animations, or video clips of the episode.

Audiograms are great for PR pros looking for a visually engaging format to repurpose their client’s podcast content on social media. You can share short clips of the podcast to hook the audience to listen to the full episode and learn more about your client.

We’ve written an article about the 6 best audiogram makers (many of them free) that you can use to get started.

2) Infographics

Another way to repurpose podcast content on social media is infographics. While they are more difficult to create than audiograms, they provide their own unique benefits.

When your client says something insightful during their podcast interview, You can turn your client’s podcast wisdom into a visual graphic that appeals to a general audience. This increases the likelihood of the content being shared on social media, and even used and cited by other people making their own content such as blogs and videos. Another benefit of infographics is that they are more easily scanned by short-attention-spanned social media audiences than audiograms.

3) Blogs & Articles

When content repurposing, you want to find ways to get your client’s work in front of as many audiences as possible. Our two previous content repurposing methods were for social media, but we haven’t addressed the way to reach the most amount of people – Google.

Google is the largest search engine by a wide margin, so it’s crucial to create content that Google’s algorithm will enjoy. The main way you can do this is writing SEO rich blogs and articles based on the content your client discussed in the episode.

And thankfully there’s a great shortcut so you don’t have to write a full article from scratch. Podchaser provides episode transcripts for thousands of podcasts. Simply go to the Podchaser episode page for your client’s guest appearance and click “transcript”. You can then take direct quotes from that transcript to jumpstart your article.

4) YouTube Clips

Behind Google, YouTube is the world’s second largest search engine, so it’s important to repurpose your content on YouTube as well. At a bare minimum you can upload audio clips of the podcast, but YouTube is a video platform, and their algorithm will favor your content if it’s engaging video.

It’s already common practice for top podcasters to post video clips of their interviews on YouTube with attention grabbing titles like, ”AI will kill everyone”.  Exciting broad appeal titles like this are a great way to grow awareness of your client.

The video quality doesn’t have to be top tier in order to take advantage of YouTube. Even a simple screen recording of the Zoom meeting your client is recording the episode on will often be enough to find a YouTube audience.
