Dr. Daniel Barwick is the former President of Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas, where he served for eight years, and also served as the president of the Kansas statewide organization of community colleges. Formerly a tenured professor of philosophy and administrator in the State University of New York College of Technology at Alfred, he received a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo, a Master’s degree from the University of Iowa, and a PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo, all in philosophy. He is a graduate of Leadership Kansas, and in 2016 was named by Ingram’s Business Magazine as one of “Fifty Kansans You Should Know.” He played himself on the Netflix series “Last Chance U,” and hosts the podcast “The Mortar Board,” available on iTunes and all other podcast outlets. He lives in Independence, Kansas, with his wife Carin (Geneseo 1991) and their two daughters, Laura and Leah.
