Anna is a PhD Student at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland. She studies the effects of ageing and modifiable risk factors on brain health, using gamified cognitive assessments and large-scale data from the smartphone app Neureka.
Anna sees dementia as one of the biggest challenges our society is facing and finds deep meaning in trying to make people’s lives a bit more liveable in the face of this challenge. From a “pragmatic” scientific perspective, She is fascinated by how brain deterioration is linked to very measurable deficits in cognition – a relationship seemingly much clearer than the link between brain and mental disorders, which makes her feel a bit more hopeful that ground-breaking discoveries must be just behind the next bend of the road.
