ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
New Year's Eve may be over, but there's still one more party to attend...and it might be your last one ever!  We're discussing the 1980 slasher whodunnit classic TERROR TRAIN starring the original scream queen, JAMIE LEIGH CURTIS!  Joining me are two of my UNDERPANTS GODOT cohorts, playwright DUNCAN PFLASTER and MARK-EUGENE GARCIA, who are also here to talk about their brand new gay comedy crime caper movie, STRAPPED FOR DANGER.

When I cover a beloved movie I've seen thousand times, I try to rewatch it through the eyes of my scheduled guests. Usually it's their first time seeing that movie. Often, changing my viewpoint to theirs allows me to see the film in a new light. How the LGBT topics of Terror Train eluded me for so long is beyond me, but having the delightful Duo of Duncan & Mark on the show unlocked a whole new layer of FABULOUS to an already great little mystery thriller.

216: THE BAD SEED (1956) with ALYSSA SIMON & JESSI GOTTA
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
Join me in celebrating WOMEN IN HORROR Month with one of my all-time favorite bad girls: PATTY MCCORMACK's legendary performance as the murderous little RHODA PENMARK in 1956's classic shocker THE BAD SEED. Special guests: ALYSSA SIMON and JESSI GOTTA from THE MOOSEHEAD OVER THE MANTEL!

It's always a little nerve-wracking putting one of my favorite films up for dissection, especially with first time guests. But Jess & Alyssa brought a fresh prespective on the film and delivered it a delicious mix of smarts and sass. Plus, their film THE MOOSEHEAD OVER THE MANTEL turned out to be the perfect companion to Rhoda's antics making this episode an ideal example of #WomenInHorrorMonth

Unfortunate and unavoidable sound problems aside, Chrysten and Dan's excitement over this decidedly decisive (and utterly bonkers) film is infectious and a joy to listen to.

224: SILENT NIGHT BLOODY NIGHT (1972)
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
Christmas is going to be a drag this year in this tiny town, because something evil has come home for the holidays...and it's got an axe! Since the show is still on hiatus, this is a rebroadcast of an episode previously only available exclusively to PATREON subscribers.

The Nightmare Closet is a recurring segment in which I revisit a movie that scared the hell out of me as a kid. Usually, the movie loses its teeth when viewed as an adult. However, even talking about this one had me reverting to a terrified 8 year old. It's rare that Iet myself be this vulnerable on the show, but I think it makes for an impactful listen.

228: DAVE MADE A MAZE (2017) with CHRISTOPHER GRONLUND “Not About Lumberjacks” & MICHAEL HOWIE “Defender Radio” [Pod-a-Thon: Day 2]
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
For this leg of our voyage through the unknown, we are talking about a movie, while even though it cannot remotely be classified as horror,  it manages encapulates the spirit that drives Halloween: the spirit of unbridled imagination and creativity that begets a world where anything can happen.Where's that beard at? I'm joined by very special guests CHRISTOPHER GRONLUND from the NOT ABOUT LUMBERJACKS podcast and MICHAEL HOWIE from DEFENDER RADIO.

An occasional move away from horror is sometimes necessary for me. Getting to talk about this fantastical joy of a movie with equally delightful guests was the perfect palate cleanser before the insanity and intensity of the 21-Episodes-in-21-Days COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN charity fundraiser kicks into full force. A great place to start if you're not a superfan of horror movies.

234: HALLOWEEN (1978) [Pod-a-Thon: Day 8]
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
Tonight, we're having a most informal chat about one of the most influental horror movies of our times: JOHN CARPENTER's trick or treat tale of terror in the house across the street, HALLOWEEN from 1978. I've got a most controversial theory about the motivations behind this film.  I can back it up with pages and pages of criminal psychology and forensic evidence. But you might still want to beat me up over it.

I have long held to the belief that Laurie Strode was never Michael Myers' intended victim. I've based this on the years of criminal psychology classes I took when I was still considering a law enforcement career. I have rarely shared this view with anyone, since HALLOWEEN is such a beloved film that fans do not take kindly to having their own view of the story shattered. But if there's a time to take a big risk, The Pod-A-Thon is definitely the time to do it. And based on the feedback I received afterwards, the risk paid off.

236: TEENAGERS FROM OUTER SPACE (1959) with MAYA MURPHY “Nightwing: Escalation” & JOHN PAUL LUCAS “Beyond the Box Set” [Pod-a-Thon: DAY 10]
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
When invaders from space invade a small town to turn the earth into a breeding farm for giant man-earting gargons, things aren't as terryfying as they planned. This invasion seems a bit...swishy. You're not wrong. I'm joined this time around by actor-singer-supervillan MAYA MURPHY and BEYOND THE BOX SET's co-host JOHN PAUL LUCAS . Get ready for tons of camp humor followed by a peek into the bizarre tale of director TOM GRAEFF , the mysterious disappearance of actor DAVID LOVE, and the consequences of being out in Hollywood in the 1950's. Plus, you'll never look at a lobster the same way again. And I apologize in advance to lesbians everywhere

In 8 years of podcasting, I feel this is the best episode I've ever produced. An unlikely movie choice unexpectedly made for a show that is sidesplittingly funny as it is heartbreaking insightful. Maya and John, both first time guests, were utter perfection, and I am forever grateful they came to play that day.

239: THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES (1971) with JOHN CLEMO & VINCENT MARANO [Pod-a-Thon: Day 13]
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
Get ready for some classic high-camp horror, because you've got an appointment with THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES!   (Matron, please! He really isn't that sort of doctor!) To help me ward off this diabolical doc, Ive enlisted two theaterical titans: JOHN CLEMO and VINCENT MARANO; one of whom once had dessert with VINCENT PRICE! Which guest was it? Who paid for the strawberry phosphate? And, most importantly, DID THEY PUT OUT???

Two-thirds of the way through the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN POD-A-THON, straight up delerium had set in, and Vinnie & John played right into it. For a movie as bonkers as this, our conversation took it to the next level making this episode uproariously raunchy.

END OF THE LINE (2007) with Andrew Huff & Matty Zaradich
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
Shit gets so real this episode that, by my own rules, I should be wearing a diaphanous nightgown! But what did I expect when I invited ANDREW HUFF and MATTY ZARADICH from FRIGAY THE 13th over to play?  We're taking the express train to Hell, and the only stop is the END OF THE LINE!

I love covering a truly well-made, truly horrifying movie that will have you analyzing it for hours after it's over. Getting to share that film with the perfect people is a delight. END OF OF THE LINE is that perfect movie, and Andrew and Matty were the perfect guests to share it with.

ALL ABOUT EVIL (2010) with Chris Diani & Jason Pintar
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
Episode 246 is all about gratitude. Gratitude....and severed boobs. JOSHUA GRANNELL aka San Francisco's drag legend PEACHES CHRIST, directs a pitch perfect cast including CASSANDRA PETERSON, MINK STOLE and THOMAS DEKKER in a film that can only be described as a little bit JOHN WATERS, a little bit JOHN HUSTON, a little bit drag show, a little bit rock and roll, a little bit GRAND GUIGNOL... And a WHOLE lotta Peaches! My guests are director CHRIS DIANI and Gabrielle Carteris cosplayer JASON PINTAR!

Without Joshua Grannell / Peaches Christ, the director of ALL ABOUT EVIL, ScreamQueenz would not have progressed past Episode 1. Therefore, Joshua, Peaches & this film mean the world to me. Therefore, the Universe decided that everything that could go wrong with this episode went wrong. Yet the ensuing chaos actually suits a discussion of this delightful bonkers movie, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Conversations with BART MASTRONARDI, Director of TALES OF POE and VINDICATION
ScreamQueenz: Where Horror Gets GAY!
Please enjoy this super-casual conversation I had with super-cool gay horror filmmaker BART MASTRONARDI. During our insightful chat, we discuss some of the behind-the-scenes stories of the making of TALES OF POE, how he managed to wrangle all of those fantastic 80's horror legends into doing it, his encounter with CLIVE BARKER over Bart's film VINDICATION, his on-going friendship with his queen, ADRIENNE KING and much, much more.

With the craziness of the COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN POD-A-THON over, it was an absolute delight to have a relaxed civilized conversation with a truly gifted filmmaker.
