When you think of nostalgic aircraft and the history of aviation, there are a few aircraft that top the list.  Typically aircraft are designed and produced with a specific goal and task in mind.  In 1947 the aviation industry gave birth to one of the most iconic aircraft ever produced.  The DHC-2 de Havilland Beaver.  The Beaver was only in production for a short time period lasting from 1947 to 1967 of which over 1600 Beavers were made.  Many of these are still flying and working today.   The Beaver changed the way people live and work in the bush country of Alaska and Canada.

In this episode of My Pilot Chronicles, we caught up with Mr. Russell Armstrong who recently acquired a 1950 Beaver with a Serial number of 86.  This is a rare find and it practically looks brand new.   Mr. Armstrong, who is a native of Commerce Texas found his dream plane up in the Victoria B.C. area.  Finding the plane was the easy part, bringing back to Texas……….well, that’s a whole other story.   Join us as Russell describes how he found this beautiful Beaver and the adventure he experienced bringing it home.

Scroll down to see several photos and the past life of this beautiful aircraft.
