Experts believe our subconscious mind controls over 90% of what we do. Although you consciously want or think something, it is what your hidden subconscious believes that matters, thus, determines whether you succeed or not.
In other words, the most important task in life is to align your conscious thoughts and desires with your subconscious beliefs. We call them beliefs for the subconscious because we usually don't logically understand how a person came to believe something in particular. It is likely these hidden beliefs came from childhood experiences or influences.
It is the work of a therapist and psychologist to discover the when and how a belief came to be, so it can be acknowledged and treated/corrected in order to alter it.
However, a more effective method is to directly change the subconscious belief using suggestions in a conversation that is non threatening. Guided meditations are the least threatening approach because relaxation lowers resistance.
