Listen to the Podcast version of this episode:
This week we’re talking about “who is in charge.” I have seen too many brides and grooms have some or all of their big day go the opposite of the way they had envisioned it because they didn’t speak up.
I’m talking about vendors: that includes the church, photographers, caterers, cake bakers, venues, videographers and yes DJs. There are probably more, but that’s all I could think of right now.
As an experienced vendor, the truth is we are programmed to guide you through the process, after all it is your first time, and our countless time. Don’t be afraid to speak up if a vendor goes in a direction you do not want or like. Remember, we can’t read your mind!
We as vendors can be overbearing because we have done it so many times. The best thing for all parties involved though, is to say,
“Hey – Can we try this? Can we try that?”
The vendors response is important. If a vendor balks at your “unique” idea – cut them loose
Don’t give them a second chance. If a vendor tells you something you want cannot be done, there are 25 other vendors for that same exact product or service within 10 miles of you. Go interview one of them.
When it comes to your wedding, you are certainly paying for what you see as perfection. Any vendor who sees it differently doesn’t deserve your business.
If you have a wedding tip you’d like us to cover email us through our Contact Page!In 2 weeks: “Why is my DJ dressed in a T-Shirt?“
