We are meeting with founder of the In & Out Smart Repair franchise opportunity, John Mike Heroman.  Founded in 2012 in Lafayette, Louisiana, In & Out Smart Repair is a one-stop shop for all smart device needs that offers fast, same day service. Michael Stone and Tyoka Jackson will discuss the Professional Athlete Franchise Initiative.  PAFI educates professional athletes about franchising.  They recently had their summit in Atlanta. We will talk about what happened at the summit and what is in store for the rest of 2011 and into 2012.
First, we are meeting with Kevin Wilkerson.  Kevin and Laurel Wilkerson own a Marco’s Pizza franchise in Broken Arrow, OK.  Kevin spent 24 years as an Army Infantry Officer and retired in 2005 as a full Colonel.  Laurel served on active duty with the Army as an attorney for over 20 years, retiring in 2008.  He later learned of Marco’s and decided to get involved in entrepreneurship.    Next, we meet with Chris Rolen.  Chris spent eight years on active duty in the Army, including a 2002 deployment to Iraq for Operation Enduring Freedom.  Chris decided to open a Weed Man franchise and received a 25% veteran’s discount.  He opened Weed Man of Loveland in January 2012 and participates in a program called Project Evergreen, a service that reaches out to wounded warriors.  Did you know one in three seniors in the United States is a veteran or surviving spouse of a veteran?  Every day, many of these men and women go without the health care they need simply because of lack of information or assistance.  Recognizing this, Home Helpers, one of the nation’s leading senior care franchises specializing in comprehensive home healthcare services and companionship, has teamed up with Veterans Care Coordination to provide an easier path for veterans and surviving spouses to receive the benefits to which they are entitled and deserve. Great Play franchise - We are meeting with Keith Camhi, Co-founder, CEO - Great Play: Great Play first opened in Stamford, Conn. in 2006 by fitness buffs Jyl & Keith Camhi. The franchised gym concept for kids, offers fun-filled motor skill, sports skill and physical education classes for children ages six months through fifth grade as well as birthday parties. There are currently 7 locations with 4 gyms opening soon. About 20 locations are expected by the end of 2012. Fresh To Order franchise opportunity - We are meeting with Pierre Panos, Founder and CEO. Fresh To Order: f2o is an innovative, franchised restaurant concept that fuses quality American cuisine, gourmet fresh ingredients and fast service to offer incredible food served in less than 10 minutes for around $10. The company currently has six locations and projections call for signing at least five multi-unit franchisees in 2011 with a total commitment of 15 to 20 restaurants.
Right at Home, a privately held provider of in-home elder care and assistance, was founded in 1995 by Allen Hager, a hospital administrator who was concerned patients needed additional assistance after their discharge from the hospital. He sought to assist their return to good health by becoming a certified nursing assistant and then launching Right at Home. Today, Right at Home generates more than $170 million in annual revenue through its 200-plus offices across the United States, the United Kingdom and Brazil. Outlets are franchisee-owned and operated, and staff skilled professionals trained to provide home-based care for thousands of clients daily.
Today's show will focus on how Josh Skolnick, founder of Monster Tree Service, is now franchising. Josh Skolnick, a career landscaper who started a multi-crew lawn care service while in high school, was often asked by customers to address their tree problems. Having no experience himself, he regularly subcontracted the task of customers’ requests to tree specialists who could handle the job. Ever the entrepreneur, Skolnick quickly realized there was opportunity to capitalize by building up a professional tree maintenance business. Four years ago, Skolnick founded Monster Tree Service (MTS). Without ever pruning or felling a tree himself, he hired existing professionals to work under his brand and led his firm to become a highly profitable multimillion dollar business which has grown to multiple crews. We are meeting with Rita Goldberg and she is the founder of British Swim School, a swimming school concept that she started in the UK and has since brought over to the U.S.  British Swim School teaches children as young as 3 months with a technique based on water survival skills first, and swimming technique second. The concept was widely popular in the UK and is receiving the same attention here. The great thing about the school is that there is no build-out required for franchisees. The school is taught in locations with pools already built-in such as recreation centers, hotels, fitness centers, etc. This requires a significantly lower start-up cost for franchisees as compared to other schools.
