Daniel Heath Justice is a Cherokee novelist and professor at UBC, where he studies Indigenous literature and expressive culture. He wrote the book "Why Indigenous Literatures Matter," a manifesto about the way Indigenous writing works in the world, and he's the author of the fantasy novel "The Way of Thorn and Thunder." Daniel talked with Sheryl about the books that have shaped his life, including a queer Indigenous love story and the famous tale of a short fellow who lives in a hole in the ground.
