Chapter Fifteen: "What else can push a friendship to the breaking point? What else, beyond matters of sex and property, can snap that bond?

How about, even unintentionally, putting your best friend in harm’s way? OR forcing them into a situation that shakes their core beliefs, makes them question everything they felt to be foundational to their existence. Is that enough to break the connection? 

And if so, once they flee, do we blame them for it? After all, they aren’t bound by blood, so when it becomes too much, do we resent them for leaving us alone, once again?"
