Australia has never had a treaty with any of its Indigenous nations, but the Noongar people from WA may have just changed that.

They now have the largest native title settlement on record, covering 200,000 km and worth $1.3 billion.

Legal scholars believe it could constitute Australia's first treaty, because of the power it puts in  the Noongar people's hands.

So if it is a treaty, could more follow?

And where does that leave the national campaign for a treaty for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people?
