Dementia is one of the worst fates that can befall a person.  That's not going to change any time soon, but all it takes to make it a little less bad is being treated a little better.  One thing to avoid is pulling a six shooter on them like a wild west outlaw.  If you're doing that, you're going to want to make some serious life changes.
