Special Edition Update on the Matthew Leveson case from Episode 4. Matthew went missing believed murdered in Sept 2007. His remains have now been found.
It’s Dec 18 1975 Pattaya a beach resort town on the eastern seaboard of Thailand. A fisherman discovers a bikini clad body of a western tourist floating in the water. He drags it to shore and police are called. There is no identification and no signs of foul play. Is this just an accident or is there something more sinister a involved. This is the story of Charles Sobhraj – AKA the bikini killer.
It’s July 10, 2001, 000 emergency dispatchers receive a phone call from 20-year-old Sef Gonzales, a Phillipino/Australian, who tells them he has just arrived home, found his mother, father and sister murdered and that he had chased off the intruders. Police arrive and find the dead bodies of 46-Year-old Teddy Gonzales, 43-year-old Loiva Gonzales and his 18 year-old sister Clodine. They also see the words ‘F**K Off Asians KKK’ spray painted on the wall. Is this a heinous hate crime, or is there something more sinister going on?
It’s the 1st of March 1989, 82-year-old Gwendoline Mitchelhill is walking down Military Rd Mosman, NSW, Australia on her way home from shopping. She enters the foyer of her building, and as she goes to open her door, she is struck on the head with a hammer. She is repeatedly struck over the head and body and her attacker flees with her purse containing $100. Although she is still alive when schoolboys find her and raise the alarm, she dies later when police and ambulance arrive. Over the next 14 months, five more elderly ladies would be murdered in the area with the suspect being dubbed the Granny Killer.
It’s August 1st 2010 Kristi Abrahams contacts police and reports that her child 6-year-old Keisha is missing from the Mt Druitt flat she shares with her de facto partner Robert Smith. A large-scale, extensive air, ground and water search gets underway but a week later it is called off as police are unable to locate the missing child. This will be one of the most shocking crimes in Australian history.
It’s the morning of March 1st 2000 Aberdeen NSW Australia. 45-Year-old John Price or ‘Pricey’ as he was known, had uncharacteristically not shown up at work. His work mates were concerned as Pricey had told his mates the day before that if he didn’t turn up to work the next day that it would be because he was dead. They call police and they go to his 84 St Andrews St residence. What they find would be one of the most gruesome murder scenes in their careers. This is the story of Katherine Knight a story so shocking that newspapers and broadcast media decided not to report on it as nobody could stomach the gory details.
It’s 2:11AM September 23, 2007. 20-year-old Matthew Leveson and his partner 42 yo Michael Atkins leave the ARQ nightclub at Darlinghurst Sydney. Matthew would never be seen again. Almost a year later, Atkins would be charged with his murder. With no body, no blood, no murder weapon and no crime scene, Atkins would be found not guilty of murdering Matthew. The electrician was also acquitted of an alternative charge of manslaughter. Is this a case of justice gone wrong, a police stuff up or did the jury get it right….
