What kind of skills do we, public relations professionals need today ?

What kind of credentials and competencies can we put forward ? What is the standard for a good communications professional ?

The Global Body of Knowledge Project, run by the Global Alliance of Public Relations and Communications Management is trying to define and create a global standard for our profession.

I spoke with Dr. Anne Gregory is Professor of Corporate Communication at the University of Huddersfield. She is currently Immediate Past Chair of the Global Alliance and the Global Body of Knowledge Project was started when she was Chair of the organisation.

Anne was also my very first podcast guest way back in 2006. But I am keeping that episode as a special bonus one for later…

About my guest:

Dr. Anne Gregory is Professor of Corporate Communication at the University of Huddersfield. She is currently Immediate Past Chair of the Global Alliance, the world-wide body of over 60 national and international public relations associations which is a recognised NGO by the UN.

Dr Gregory has written and edited over 20 books, including the globally available CIPR series which she edits; authored 30 book chapters and 50 refereed journal articles and conference papers. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Communication Management and a Visiting Professor at the Italian University of Switzerland, and the Universities of Navarra, CEU and RMIT.
