Today’s Topic: Creating Goals with Clarity

We screwed up our vision boards for 10 years so now we’re sharing our secrets to creating a vision board that works.

The first thing you need to make a vision board that works is clarity. Don’t arbitrarily flip through magazines and cut out random pictures of the body that you wish you had but probably never will. Make a vision board with intention. Write down what you really want and then think about how you’re going to represent that on your vision board.

One of our financial goals is for Kim to max out her business centre in network marketing. That would create a minimum of $702,000 a year in residual income. But she didn’t know how to represent that in a picture. The other day she was riding her bike past all these giant beach houses and she realized that when she maxes out her business centre she wants to throw a week-long party for her team members because she can’t reach that goal alone. There will be a pyjama party, a glam night and swag bags. Kim wants to throw the most beautiful, amazing event to give back to her people and then she wants to pay that shit forward and help somebody else max it out.

Including this level of detail and knowing what really motivates us makes us excited to do the daily work to reach our goals.

To make sure you’re very clear on what you want, hold off making the vision board for a week or so.

When you have made the vision board don’t put it in your bathroom where it’s going to get destroyed by the steam and don’t hide it away in a closet. Put it somewhere you and all your friends can see it. Have conversations about it when you’re making dinner or drinking your coffee. Because when people ask about it and you explain it to them, the more you own it and the more you make it real.

We create our vision board as a couple because our dreams need to be in alignment before we can work toward them together.

The last point is, you have to take the action. Do not let another year go by where you're staring at the vision board on the wall, and nothing happens. It's not magic. Get The Push Journal if you don’t have one.

We’re holding a vision board contest for a free enrollment in our virtual mastermind. To enter:

  1. Create a vision board
  2. Do a video sharing the board and the ideas that inspired it
  3. Put it on Instagram and tag @kimmurgatroyd and @robmurgatroyd

The competition closes at the end of the year. The winner will get a 90-day membership of our virtual membership which includes an ideation phone session with Kim and a three-pack set of The Push Journal.
