Adam Phillips is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and essayist. He is is a former Principal Child Psychotherapist at Charing Cross Hospital in London and is now a psychoanalyst in private practice. He is a visiting professor in the English department at the University of York. He is a regular contributor to the London Review of Books. He was the general editor of the Penguin Modern Classics series of translations of Sigmund Freud.
