Andre Fuad Degas is a filmmaker and playwright living and working in NYC .Recently won best Story in Podcast at Miami Web Fest. In 2022 he was selected for his Audio Drama Day by Day in the Tribeca FF 2022. He also won the Austin FF award for the same project in 2021. He wrote and directed 'The Kitchen', a television drama which aired on American Playhouse, PBS. He also wrote the screenplay for 'Condition Red', a prison drama for HBO.
His play, The House of Charity, opened at Theatre for The New City and had a six-week run. .
His latest play, 'The Window' is a finalist at the upcoming Rave Theatre Festival (The Soho-Rep.)
His debut film, First Coda, based on a short story by Samuel Beckett won many Festival awards. American Autobahn, his first feature was distributed worldwide. Both films are now part of a MOMA collection (Filmmakers of the 1980's).
Andre Degas was a producer at CBS News, MTV and Ovation. He graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The School of Visual Arts in NYC. He holds an MFA in screenwriting from Hollins University and a master’s degree in playwriting from Queens College, where he also taught several creative writing courses. He is currently a professor of narrative and adaptations at The School of Visual Arts, NYC.
