Andrea Pitzer is a writer who writes nonfiction about obscure or forgotten history. Pitzer has been a freelance journalist, a music critic, a portrait painter, a French translator, a record store manager, and a martial arts and self-defense instructor. Pitzer's work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Daily Beast, Vox, Slate, and Lapham’s Quarterly. She is the author of three books: "The Secret History of Vladimir Nabokov," published in 2013, "One Long Night: A Global History of Concentration Camps," published in 2017, and "Icebound: Shipwrecked at the Edge of the World," published in 2021.
