My guest for this 10th episode is Black American photographer, Rebecca Arthur. I've heard about her through the US Foundation in Paris and decided to check her out and eventually interviewing her.
It was quite interesting talking to her about her work obviously, and through that getting her honest opinion on and experience in France, especially in regards to racial dynamics and the concept of "national identity".
She was very generous in sharing about her upbringing, relationship with herself, her mother and family, and her medium. Listening back to our exchange, I felt that there is/was even more thoughts and subjects to unpack, than we had the time for, however it will hopefully drive you to reflect on yourself as well as questionning your own environment and relationships.
Don't forget to check her out, and if you are in Paris, visit her exhibition "Reimagining the Black identity" at the US Foundation through February 27th. If you get the chance to go, let me know your thoughts on Instagram.
Have a lovely week-end. Anna
