Anup Malani is an economist and a law professor. Currently, he is a Professor at the University of Chicago Law School and a Professor at the Pritzker School of Medicine. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Boston. Malani's research in health economics focuses on infectious diseases, medical innovation, and health insurance. His research in law and economics analyzes judicial decision-making and the legal implications of blockchain. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Malani has been focused on tackling the disease in India. Malani received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago and his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
