Benjamin Fleury-Steiner is a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from Northeastern University in 2000. His research interests include race and the criminal justice system and community impact. Dr. Fleury-Steiner has published numerous refereed journal articles and authored or edited six scholarly books. Dr. Fleury-Steiner was an elected member of the Law & Society Association Board of Trustees between 2015 and 2018. Since 2017, he has actively taught courses in a high security prison as part of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program.​
