"We hit on this nerve that it would be erotic for women to just be treated in a safe, human way." - Brooke Preston   Caitlin Kunkel, Brooke Preston, Fiona Taylor, and Carrie Wittmer are comedy writers and satirists whose work has been featured in the New Yorker, McSweeney's, and many other outlets. Together, they cofounded and edit the website The Belladonna, which responds to today's culture, news, and politics with comedy and satire written by women writers by all definitions. The Belladonna has been called “the New Onion” by Vulture and the editors some of the “gatekeepers of American humor” by The Writer Magazine. Feminism and erotica – do I have your attention? Today’s show is a crazy and energetic conversation with three of the four authors of a new book that’s giving me new life! Caitlin Kunkel, Brooke Preston, Fiona Taylor, and Carrie Wittmer are satirists and comedy writers whose work has been featured in The New Yorker […] The post New Erotica for Feminists appeared first on NextFem.
Guest Caitlin Kunkel talks about her road to success writing humor for McSweeney's and The New Yorker, as well as landing her first book deal. She and Scott discuss the mindset and discipline of making a writing career.
On today's episode I have comedy writer, Caitlin Kunkel! I first got to know Caitlin as one of my teachers at The Second City and have continued to follow her career as she as her comedy writing partners launched The Belladonna Comedy in New York. Caitlin and her Belladonna Comedy team recently released the hilarious new satire book, "New Erotica for Feminism".  I talked with Caitlin about how she got her start in comedy writing, teaching at The Second City, what inspires her to write, creating a network, the new book, and so much more!  Caitlin is also giving you the chance to win a copy of New Erotica for Feminists. The first 3 people to comment on Facebook or Twitter and tell me where Caitlin went to grad school will win a copy of the book. Make sure to listen to the episode for the answer!  A huge Thank You to Caitlin Kunkel for taking the time to join me on the podcast. This was a long time coming and I'm so glad we finally made it happen. Make sure to follow her and Belladonna Comedy on all of the links below, and most importantly, go buy the books! Thanks, Caitlin! Enjoy the episode!
