Professor Carol Mason is an American sociologist, on faculty at University of Kentucky. Her research examines different aspects of the rise of the right since the 1960s: Killing for Life: The Apocalyptic Narrative of Pro-life Politics (2002); Reading Appalachia from Left to Right (2009); and Oklahomo: Lessons in Unqueering America (2015); From the Clinics to the Capitol (2025) argues that white nationalism and authoritarian populism have taken hold in America under the guise of opposing abortion.
