Christopher George Robin Powell is an English football coach and former professional left back, best known for his long-standing association with Charlton Athletic and his contributions to English football both on and off the pitch. As a player, Powell had a career spanning over two decades, representing clubs including Southend United, Derby County, Charlton Athletic, West Ham United, Watford, and Leicester City, and earning five caps for the England national team. He was part of Charlton’s 1999–2000 squad that won promotion to the Premier League. Following his retirement at Leicester in 2010, he transitioned into coaching and management, leading Charlton Athletic to the League One title in 2011–12 and later managing Huddersfield Town and Southend United. Powell also served in coaching roles at Derby County and contributed to England’s 2018 World Cup bid as an ambassador. He was chairman of the Professional Footballers’ Association from 2005 until his retirement from playing, reflecting his leadership and advocacy within the sport.
