Chris lives in North Wales in the UK and for most of his life he was self employed running a Custom Motorcycle shop. For those who don’t know him, Chris has a long term diagnosis of Emphysema and Mixed Dementia, consisting of Vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Chris Chairs the European Working Group of People With Dementia he is a Join Dementia Research Champion and Ambassadors for the National Association of Care Caterers. He is also an Honorary Fellow of Bangor University, Co Founder and Member of the 3Nations Dementia Working Group.
It was important to him that things improved closer to home, so he Co Founded the 3Nations Dementia Working Group (3NDWG, England, N.Ireland and Wales) facilitated by Alzheimer’s Society, and advised and contributed to the Wales Dementia Action Plan, sat on their Dementia Oversite of Implementation Impact Group, and on the Evaluation Advisory board.
He and his wife and carer Jayne Goodrick are on several advisory boards/steering groups for research projects and studies. They opened up in the Documentary titled 'Living With Dementia, Chris's story' for BBC’s Panorama and in a BBC Wales documentary’Week In Week Out’, titled 'Who Will Look After Mum, Dad or Me'.
