Today, I’m talking with Christopher Gimmer, the Co-Founder and CEO of Snappa, a SaaS startup that lets you create online graphics in a snap. Chris first came on the show almost exactly a year ago and shared how he grew Snappa to $20k MRR in just one year. As a MicroConf regular, it’s been great to catch up with him out in Vegas and hear how business is going but it’s not usually polite to grill somebody for 30 minutes in person, so I was excited to have the opportunity to do that today. Since our last interview, Snappa has nearly tripled and we talk about the lessons Chris has learned along the way; everything from hiring to how they’ve sustained this growth with a lean, profitable team. If you’ve always heard you need to pick growth or profitability, then Chris is here to tell you why that doesn’t need to be the case.
My guest today has been bootstrapping startups since 2014. He is currently the co-founder and CEO of Snappa, software built to enable entrepreneurs and marketers to create graphics. Snappa was launched in July of 2015, and just recently passed the impressive milestone of $25,000 monthly recurring revenue. From quitting his stable government job to recently purchasing the URL Snappa.com for $40,000, this conversation is insightful into the inner-workings of growing a software company from the ground up. Now, let’s hack… Christopher Gimmer.
Christopher Gimmer is the co-founder and CEO of an exciting and profitable start-up called Snappa. Chris says that Snappa is the easiest graphic design tool you'll ever use. He is helping marketers and small business owners create awesome designs without the help of a graphic designer. Over 200,000 designs have been created so far with Snappa, and Chris is doing 5 figures in monthly recurring revenue after only 5 months in business.
