Ashley became interested in religion, because she loves books. From the illustrated Bible she had as a kid to the Tao Te Ching she picked up in high school, books guided her interest in religion. Well, books and travel. Ashley can still recall lighting incense in a Buddhist temple in China at the age of six. Now a days, Ashley spends her time working on her dissertation so she can get her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado-Boulder. She also holds an M.A. in journalism, an M.A. in Religious Studies, and a B.A. in Religious Studies. Needless to say, Ashley has spent most of her life studying religion, politics, and culture. Ashley is the one woman team behind Religionish. She hosts, produces, and edits all the content you hear in the show. She also does the occasional freelance writing and editing for a variety of publications -- from religion journalism to content marketing.
Three religion podcasters discuss origins, self-realization, racial justice, and spirituality.Back in August 2018, I organized and moderated a roundtable discussion about religion podcasting. The session, called Streaming the Word, took place in Boulder, Colorado for the conference of the International Society for Media, Religion, and Culture. Three great podcasters agreed to speak with me -- John Dehlin of Mormon Stories, Vincent Horn of Buddhist Geeks, and Rev. Anne Dunlap of The Word is Resistance.
In the second episode of Religionish SCOTUS watch, Ashley outlines what is meant by "separation of Church and State." What does this have to do with the establishment clause in the Constitution? How come we see an entanglement of religion and politics?
Religionish Spirit Checks reflect on relevant emotions given current events. This Spirit Check focuses on exhaustion and all the different sensory experiences our bodies and minds are processing. We're not lazy -- just overwhelmed. How do you see exhaustion manifesting in your COVID-19 quarantine life?
Ashley speaks with Drew Proctor about religion and the Democratic Party. Does the party have a religion problem? How are race and religion connected when it comes to politics?
