David William Rabe is a playwright and screenwriter who is known for his plays about the Vietnam War. Rabe was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he attended Villanova University and began writing. He won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1972 for his play "Sticks and Bones," which is about a family's reaction to the return of their son from the war.
