The son of a German dolly grip and a governess was born in Cologne. In 1981 he graduated from Commercial College, Cologne. Having moved to West Cork, Ireland, in 2003, In 2012, Schlich began studying visual arts on Sherkin Island (accredited by the Dublin Institute of Technology) and graduated with distinction in 2016. 2020 he created and produced this Arteetude podcast with Artists .
