Dr. Donald Curran Shoup is an engineer and professor of urban planning. Currently, he is a research professor of urban planning at the University of California Los Angeles.After completing his PhD, Shoup worked as a research economist at UCLA's Institute for Government and Public Affairs, then as a professor at the University of Michigan, before joining the faculty at UCLA in 1974.Shoup has published academic papers and books, and is best known for his book "The High Cost of Free Parking," which was published in 2005.Shoup received his B.E. in Electrical Engineering and his Ph.D. in Economics from Yale.
