Doug McGill is a freelance writer, journalist and meditation teacher.McGill's career in journalism began in the 1977s as the editor of the University of Minnesota Public Interest Research Group's paper, Statewatch. He then became a reporter at The New York Times. He moved to Tokyo and was an editor for Bloomberg News, then its bureau chief in London and Hong Kong. He returned to the U.S. in 2000, and published his own independent paper and taught journalism and media ethics at the University of St. Thomas and at Carleton College in Northfield, MN.McGill is currently retired, but continues to talk about and teach meditation. He founded the Rochester Meditation Center.McGill's first book, "Relax and Be Aware: Mindfuiness Meditations for Clarity, Confidence and Wisdom," was published in 2019.
