Dr. Matthew Murtha obtained his PhD in molecular biology from The Ohio State University in the vast emptiness of the American MidWest. His research there focused on mechanisms to program stem cells to become neurons. As a postdoc in New York he developed a novel way to annotate genomic regulatory elements. His work then took him to the coasts of Catalonia for a postdoc in cancer epigenetics in Barcelona, Spain. Here he discovered the wonders of comedy and communication and began a new career in science and technology outreach.
