Dr. Elijah Anderson is a sociologist and cultural theorist, and is considered one of the U.S.’s leading urban ethnographers. Currently, he is Professor of Sociology and of African American Studies at Yale University, where he teaches and directs the Urban Ethnography Project.
Anderson has published academic articles and book chapters. He has edited several books and published five of his own. His first book, "Streetwise: Race, Class, and Change in an Urban Community," was published in 1990. He is best known for his second book, "Code of the Street: Decency, Violence, and the Moral Life of the Inner City," which was published in 1999.
