Dr. Elizabeth Abbott is a historian, writer, and animal rights activist. Currently, she is a senior research associate at Trinity College, University of Toronto.Abbott's writing has appeared in the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen, The Gazette, London Free Press, La Presse, Walrus, Quill & Quire, Equinox, and Harrowsmith. Her first book, "Tropical Obsession: A Universal Tragedy in Four Acts Set in Haiti," was published in 1986. She has published seven nonfiction books.
