Elizabeth Steward is Vice President of Marketing & Research at Envisio, a strategy and performance management software company. She has 20+ years of experience driving growth in technology companies serving markets in the United States, Canada and the U.K., with more than half of that time spent working in the service of government agencies. Liz is an engaging guest who can speak eloquently on the growing role of technology in local government, with a special focus on the increasing need to build trust and transparency in local government through improved communication, budget alignment and performance management. A law school graduate and former Special Constable for the Metropolitan Police in London, Liz has a deep interest in the role of police in society, jurisprudence, community building, and the relationship between inequality and the criminal justice system. She is a strong advocate for women in leadership roles in both the technology sector and local government, and has written on the subject for regional and industry publications. In addition, she is the creator of the Inspirational Women in Local Government initiative - now a national series celebrating and elevating women who are driving innovation in our communities. She is a key collaborator with the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) on the Rethinking Budgeting initiative – now the GFOA's recommended budgeting operating system for local governments – providing expertise in the creation of a readiness assessment and thought leadership on aligning the budget with strategic outcomes.
