Emily Gee is a historian and heritage specialist whose research focuses on architecture, gender, and social history in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Britain. She has held senior roles in historic building conservation, including with Historic England, and has written extensively on the intersections of domestic space, philanthropy, and women’s lives. Her 2025 book, *Hostel, House and Chambers: Accommodating the Victorian and Edwardian Working Woman* (Liverpool University Press), investigates the design, function, and cultural meanings of women’s housing during a period of rapid social change, revealing how built environments reflected and shaped evolving notions of women’s work, respectability, and independence.
