Emma Ashford is a researcher, currently working as a Visiting Fellow in Defense and Foreign Policy at the Cato Institute. Her research focuses on the politics of resource and oil-producing countries, with a particular interest in Russian politics and US-Russian relations.Ashford's work has appeared in Foreign Affairs, the Texas National Security Review, Strategic Studies Quarterly, the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Foreign Policy, Vox, The National Interest, and War on the Rocks.Ashford is the co-host of the podcast "Power Problems," which investigates international security with guests from across the political spectrum.Ashford received her PhD in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, and before that she received her MA from American University's School of International Service.
