Dr. Francesca Trivellato is a historian, whose research focuses on cultural, economic and social history in the early modern period. Currently, she is a Professor in the School of Historical Studies at the Institute for Advanced Study.Trivellato's publications have covered Italian history, Jewish history and trade and cultural networks. Her first book, "The Familiarity of Strangers: The Sephardic Diaspora, Livorno, and Cross-cultural Trade in the Early Modern Period," was published in 2009. Her most recent book, "The Promise and Peril of Credit: What a Forgotten Legend about Jews and Finance Tells Us about the Making of European Commercial Society," was published in 2019.Trivalleto received her B.A. in History from the University of Venice, her Ph.D. in Social History from Bocconi University and her Ph.D. in History from Brown University.
