We’re taking a brief break from our 2018 Philadelphia Podcast Festival celebration to talk 10 Years of Marvel! The Great Philadelphia Comic Con had us run a panel on Sunday, April 29th, 2018 to close out the convention. Kev hosted the panel with Garrett Smith (I Like to Movie Movie), Ash (Brudders), B.K. Mullen (The Poppin’ Bottles Dadcast), and Mike DeAngelo (Tellest) joining as panelists. The crew didn’t talk much about Infinity War, as to avoid spoilers for those who hadn’t seen it yet. However, they do dive deep into the 10 year history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Be sure to come out to Tattooed Mom on July 1st, 2018 at 1:00pm for Everything is Awesome: LATE NIGHT at The Philadelphia Podcast Festival. We’ll be playing FOOD FRIGHT, a series of four food challenges, where you can win CASH, free drinks, a gift card to MIND ESCAPE, and more! We’ll be joined by stunt worker and fight choreographer, Jacqueline Holloway and Philadelphia comedian, Kyle Harris! Wow, 100 episodes of Awesome! I’m so happy that we’ve made it this far—and I’ve been podcasting for over 10 years. There’s something way more powerful about hitting 100 episodes than being in the industry for over a decade. Out of all the podcasts I’ve been part of, only three have gone over 100 episodes—AND that includes Everything is Awesome. Thank YOU, the listeners, for hanging out for as long as you have. While this show wouldn’t exist without all the guest who have donated their valuable time to sit down with me, it also wouldn’t exist without you. I like to take the opportunity to do something different with our milestone episodes. So, for this one, we not only did the show LIVE, from one of my favorite venues in the city (Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse), but we played a game! Taking a page out of an actual play podcast’s book, I had Jeff Stormer (from Party of One Podcast) run a game for us. He ran a game he’s designing, Mission:Accomplished!, and it was amazing! My normal co-host, Mike DeAngelo, couldn’t make it, so I brought in my good friend Garrett Smith to be a familiar face. I wanted to stack this episode with funny people, so I turned to past guest, Joe Gates, to fill in another spot on the player side. Joe is a well connected player in the improv world here in Philadelphia, so he led me to Dan Higgins and Hannah Datz. As you can hear, he more than delivered in finding me some funny people! I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Zack and Diana from Heart Points Pod one last time. They performed their show live before we went on and it was very entertaining. On one final note, this show is dedicated to the Kurtz family—a very good friend of mine lost his niece in a hit and run accident. To help pay for medical bills and funeral costs, they have setup a GoFundMe. If you have extra money, consider donating: https://www.gofundme.com/memorial-fund-for-jessica-kurtz SUPPORT We’ve relaunched our Patreon! We’re kicking off our Philadelphia Podcast Festival celebration with a live show we did at Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse earlier this month! Not only is Amalgam one of the greatest comic book stores I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting, they are an official venue and sponsor of the festival! To tie this episode to the festival even more, our guest, Ophidian the Cobra, will be bringing HIS podcast, Bump and Grind, to the festival on Friday, July 21st 2017 from 11p to 12a at BridgeSet Sound. On this show, we had the pleasure of bring Everything is Awesome‘s very first guest (and official super friend), Garrett Smith, as special guest co-host. The two donned their best wrestling masks as they welcomed Ophidian to the stage, where Kev taunted his wrestling lineage and was promptly chopped. We also had the pleasure of having Brian Guay experience his very first ‘sit down’ comedy, where told the jokes and we made the laughs! We’ve relaunched our Patreon! Instead of running multiple services to collect pledges for the things we do, we combined everything into ONE location. I sat down and had conversations with Garrett Smith (from I Like to Movie Movie) and Kacey Spivey (from Screen Rant) to discuss the first comic book movie to have a female as it's lead, DC's Wonder Woman.
