George Shea is the voice and visionary behind the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. A Columbia-educated literature major turned PR maven, he joined the event in 1991 and alongside his brother Rich, transformed it into a national spectacle by creating Major League Eating (MLE) in 1997.
