Ha-Joon Chang is an economist and academic who specializes in institutional economics and development. Currently, he is Professor of Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies. He is a fellow at the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, and serves on the advisory board of Academics Stand Against Poverty.
Previusly, Chang was a lecturer in Economics at the University of Cambridge. He has served as a consultant to the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the European Investment Bank, Oxfam, and various United Nations agencies.
Chang has published several general audience books on economics and development policy, most notably "Kicking Away the Ladder: Development Strategy in Historical Perspective," which was published in 2002.
